A139x Series linearHall-effect sensorsIntegrated circuits (ICs) provide a voltage output directly proportional to the applicable magnetic field. Before amplification, the sensitivity of a typical Hall-effect IC (in mV/G) is directly proportional to the current flowing through the internal Hall-effect sensor element of the IC. In many applications, it is difficult to achieve sufficient sensitivity levels for Hall-effect sensor ICs without drawing more than 3 mA. The A139x reduces current consumption to no more than 25 μA by adding a user-selectable sleep mode. This makes these devices more suitable for battery-powered applications such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and portable tools. The end user can do this by applying a logic level signal to the SLEEPpins to control the current consumption of the A139x. The device output is invalid in sleep mode (high impedance mode). The high impedance output feature allows multiple A139x Hall-effect devices to be connected to a single AC-to-DC converter input.

Depending on the nominal setting, the quiescent output voltage of these devices is 50% of the ratiometric supply reference voltage applied to the VREF pin of the device. The output voltage of the device is not proportional to the voltage at the SUPPLY pin.

Despite the low power consumption of the circuitry in the A139x, the functionality required by the high-precision linear Hall-effect IC is not compromised. Each device features a BiCMOS monolithic circuit that integrates a temperature-compensated Hall-effect circuit that has been improved to reduce the sensitivity drift inherent in Hall elements, small signal high-gain amplifiers, and proprietary dynamic offset cancellation circuitry. Post-package factory programming at end-of-line ensures precise control of device sensitivity and offset.

These devices are available in a 2.0 × 3.0 mm, 0.75 mm nominal height tiny pin-in small package (MLP/DFN). The package is lead-free and has 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
