The AD7091R-5 is a 12-bit, multi-channel, ultra-low-power, successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The AD7091R-5 operates from a single 2.7 V to 5.25 V supply and has a typical power consumption of only 24 μA in fast mode and at 3 V.
The AD7091R-5 offers a two-wire serial interface that is compatible with the I2C interface. The conversion process can be controlled by sample mode (via the CONVST pin), auto-cycle mode (selected via software control), or command mode, in which the conversion is initiated once for each I2C write.
The device has a built-in wide-bandwidth sample-and-hold amplifier that handles input frequencies up to 1.5 MHz. The AD7091R-5 also offers an on-chip conversion clock, a 2.5 V precision on-chip reference source, and programmable out-of-range user alerts.
The AD7091R-5 offers 4 single-ended analog input channels with a channel sequencer, and the channel conversion sequence can be selected by pre-programming.
The AD7091R-5 features advanced design techniques that allow for extremely low power consumption without compromising performance. In addition, flexible power management options are available. The on-chip configuration register allows the user to set different operating conditions. They include power management, alarm functions, busy indication, channel timing, and universal output pins. The MUXOUT and ADCIN pins allow the ADC to condition the output signal of the multiplexer before it acquires it.
