illustrate
The LM3431 is ideal for LED backlit panels where a triple linear current controller combined with a boost switching controller drives critical application spaces.
The LM3431 drives three external NPN transistors or MOSFETs to provide a high accuracy constant current of three LED strings.
The output current is adjustable to drive strings over 200 mA.
The scalable LM3431 drives up to 6 LED strings.
The boost controller drives an external NFET input voltage boost regulator switch between 5V and 36V.
The LM3431 features LED cathodic feedback to minimize adjustment margin and optimize efficiency.
The DIM input pin controls the brightness of the LED from an analog or digital control signal.
Dimming frequencies up to 25 kHz are possible with a contrast ratio of 100:1.
It is possible to contrast at lower dimming frequencies than 1000:1.
The LM3431 eliminates audible noise problems and maintains constant output voltage regulation in LED dimming.
Other features include LED short-circuit and open-circuit protection, fault delay/error flags, cyclic cycle current limiting, thermal shutdown ICs, and LED arrays.
The LM3431A's enhancements reduce the offset of higher voltge accuracy LED currents.
