The LM3671 step-down DC-DC converter is optimized for power supply from a single-cell Li-Ion battery and input voltage rail to a low-voltage circuit from 2.7V to 5.5V. It can deliver up to 600mA of load current over the entire input voltage range. Several different fixed output voltages are available, as well as an adjustable output voltage range from 1.1V to version 3.3.

The device offers superior functionality and performance in mobile phones and similar portable systems. Intelligent switching between automatic PWM low noise and PFM low current modes provides improved system control. In PWM mode, the device operates at a fixed frequency of 2 MHz (typical). Hysteretic PFM mode extends battery life at light loads, reduced standby operation, and quiescent current of 16μA (typical). Internal synchronous rectification provides high efficiency during PWM mode operation. In shutdown mode, the device shuts down, reducing battery consumption to 0.01μA (typical).

The LM3671 is available in SOT23-5 in 5-5 solder ball micro SMD and 6-pin LLP packages in lead (PB) and lead (NO PB) versions. The high switching frequency of 2 MHz (typical) allows for tiny surface mount components. Only three external surface mount components, an inductor and two ceramic capacitors, are required.
