illustrate
The LM94 hardware monitoring two-wire digital interface is compatible with SMBus 2.0. Using the ΣΔ ADC, the LM94 measures the temperature of the four remote diodes connected to the transistor as well as its own die and 16 supply voltages. The LM94 has the new TruTherm technology, a processor that supports thermal diode measurement accuracy in submicron processes.
To set the fan speed, the LM94 has two PWM outputs, each controlling 6 temperature zones. The fan control algorithm can be based on a lookup table, PI (proportional/integer) control loop, or a combination of both. The LM94 includes a digital filter that can be called for smooth progress to better control fan speed and other acoustic noise minimum temperature readings. The LM94 has 4 tachometer inputs to measure fan speed. Limit and status registers for all measured values are also included.
After the LM94 was built, the previous motherboard server managed the ASIC functions such as the LM93. It also adds support for dynamic VCCP monitoring, measurement, and control VRD10/11^PROCHOT. It is designed as a dual-processor Xeon-class motherboard display with minimal external components.
