The LMS8117A is a low dropout regulator with a 1.2V drop in a load current series of 1A. It is the same pinout as the industry standard LM317 for U.S. National Semiconductor.

The LMS8117A is available in an adjustable version that can set the output voltage from 1.25V to 13.8V with only two external resistors. In addition, it is also available in two fixed voltages, 1.8V and 3.3V.

The LMS8117A provides current limit and thermal shutdown. Its circuitry includes a Zener trimmed bandgap reference to guarantee an output voltage accuracy of 1% at ±.

The LMS8117A series is available in SOT-223 and TO-252 D-PAK packages. At a minimum, a 10μF tantalum capacitor needs to be at the output to improve transient response and stability.
