The SN65HVD233, SN65HVD234 and SN65HVD235 are used for use in Employer Controller Area Networks (CAN) applications according to the physical layer of serial communication with the ISO 11898 standard. As a CAN transceiver, each provides the difference between transmit and receive CAN buses and CAN controller functions with signal transmission rates up to 1 Mbps.

Designed for operation in particularly harsh environments, the equipment features cross-wire, overvoltage and overtemperature protection, common-mode ± 100 V transient protection device grounding protection± 36 V loss, 12-V common mode in a -7-V operation with a maximum range of 60 nodes on the bus.

If the common-mode range is limited to the range of -2 V to 7 volts via the ISO-11898 standard, up to 120 nodes can be connected on the bus.
