TPS40040 with TPS40041 DC-DC controllers are designed for input sources from 2.25 V to 5.5 V. To reduce the number of external components, some operating parameters are fixed internal, that is, frequency, soft-start time, and the level of short-circuit protection (SCP). For example, TPS40040/1 operates at 300 kHz/600 kHz respectively.

Three short-circuit threshold levels, one of which can optionally be increased by the COMP pin from the outside to the circuit ground resistance. On the power supply, and when the output voltage of the previous internal soft-start command rises, TPS40040/1 enters the calibration cycle, measures the COMP pin current output, and selects an internal SCP threshold voltage.
