The TPS40170 is a full-featured synchronous PWM buck controller optimized for DC/DC converter applications operating between 4.5 volts, 60 V input voltage, high power density, and high reliability. The controller implements voltage mode and input voltage feedforward compensation, enabling instantaneous control of changes in input voltage. Programmable switching frequency from 100 kHz to 600 kHz.

The TPS40170 low-side FET has been detected for system protection, such as programmable undervoltage lockout, programmable overcurrent protection (OCP), a complete set of monitoring functions, and selectable short-circuit protection for detecting high-side FETs and thermal shutdown (SCP). The ENABLE pin allows system shutdown in low current (1μA typical) mode.
