The TL499A is an integrated circuit designed to provide adjustable regulated supply voltage over a wide range of voltages. The regulated output voltage varies from 2.9 V to 30 V with two external resistor adjustments. When the TL499A is AC coupled to line power through a step-down transformer, it operates as a series of DC voltage regulators to maintain a stable output voltage. With an AC line fault step-up switching regulator from a 1.1-volt battery in addition to 10 volts, an inductor, a filter capacitor and two resistors, the TL499A operates during an AC line fault.

The adjustable regulated output voltage is useful for making the TL499A useful for a wide range of applications. Providing an AC backup power line fault during this makes the TL499A microprocessor memory extremely useful for applications.
