The TPS6100x device is a probo-boost converter for systems typically powered by single or two-cell nickel-cadmium (NiCd), nickel-metal hydride (NiMH), or alkaline batteries. The converter output voltage can be adjusted to a maximum of 1.5 V to 3.3 V and provides at least 100 mA output from a single cell and two 250 mA currents from a single cell. The converter starts, enters a 0.9 V supply voltage, and keeps the operating voltage at a low operating voltage of 0.8 with a supply of five at full load

The converter is based on a fixed-frequency, current-mode pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller that enters power-down mode at low load current. The current through the switch is limited to 1100 mA maximum, depending on the output voltage.
