The LM2734 regulator is a monolithic, high frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter in a 6-pin thin SOT23 package. It offers all the positive features, providing fast transient response and precise adjustment of local DC/DC conversion with minimal PCB area.
With external components and online design support via WEBENCH ® are minimal ™ , the LM2734 is easy to use. Capable of driving an internal 300mΩnmos 1A load switch using state-of-the-art equipment, state-of-the-art 0.5 micron BiCMOS process for optimal power density in the best of the available technology. World-class control circuitry allows for low on-times of up to 13ns, supporting very high output voltages that are reduced to as little as 0.8V over the entire conversion 3V to 20V input operating voltage range. The switching frequency is internally set to 550kHz (LM2734Y) or 1.6MHz (LM2734X), allowing the use of very small surface mount inductors and chip capacitors. Even at very high operating frequencies, efficiencies of up to 90% are easily achievable. External shutdown is included with an ultra-low standby current of 30nA. The LM2734 adopts functions such as current mode control and internal compensation, and is highly stable in a wide range of operating conditions. Other features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce inrush current, pulse pass pulse current limiting, thermal shutdown, and overvoltage protection output.
