The LM2833 regulator is a monolithic, high-frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter available in a 10-pin LLP package or eMSOP. It includes all the positive features to provide customers with fast transient response and minimal PCB area to precisely regulate local DC/DC conversion. With minimal external components, the LM2833 is easy to use. The ability to drive an internal 3.0A 56mΩ PMOS load switch is the result of advanced equipment, the best power density available for the state-of-the-art 0.5 μm BiCMOS process. The world-class control circuitry achieves chip-folds as low as 30ns, thus supporting very high output voltages that are reduced to a minimum of 0.6V over the entire conversion 3V to 5.5V input operating voltage range. The switching frequency is set internally to 1.5MHz or 3.0MHz, allowing for the use of extremely small surface mount inductors and capacitors. Even at high operating frequencies, up to 93% efficiency is easily achieved. External shutdown is included and has an ultra-low standby current of 300nA. The LM2833 adopts functions such as peak current mode control and internal compensation, and the wide range of operating conditions is highly stable. Other features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce inrush current, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, frequency foldback, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
