The LM3407 is a constant current output step-down switching converter floating design that provides constant current, high power LEDs. The device is ideal for automotive, industrial and general lighting applications. The LM3407 integrates a power N-MOSFET application solution, making it compact and easy to implement. An external 1% thick film resistor allows the converter output voltage to be adjusted as needed to achieve constant current in series with 10% accuracy for different numbers and types of series LEDs. The switching frequency of the converter is adjustable from 300 kHz to 1 MHz. The input of the LM3407 with dimming enables the LED to be controlled by pulse width modulation (PWM) brightness. In addition, a separate enable pin allows low power shutdown. The exposed pad eMSOP-8 package provides excellent thermal and thermal performance. Input UVLO, output open circuit protection guarantees a robust LED driver solution.
