The negative LM5067 hot-swappable controller provides intelligent control of power connections inserted into and cut from the field system backplane or other "hot" power supply circuit cards. The LM5067 also provides inrush current control to limit system voltage droop and transients. Current limit and external series adjustment of the power dissipation of the N-channel MOSFET are programmable to ensure operation in a safe operating area (SOA). In addition, the LM5067 circuit provides protection from monitoring during overcurrent and overvoltage conditions. The power good output indicates when the output voltage is close to the input voltage. Input undervoltage and overvoltage lockout levels and hysteresis are programmable, as well as fault detection time. While the LM5067-1 latches up, a fault is detected, while the LM5067-2 automatically attempts to restart in a fixed duty cycle. The LM5067 is available in a 10-pin MSOP package and a 14-pin SOIC package.
