The LM50 is a precision integrated circuit temperature sensor that senses the use of a single positive supply in the -40°C to +125°C temperature range. The output voltage of this LM50 is proportional to the temperature (°C) (+10 mV/°C) and has a DC offset of 500 mV. The offset allows reading without the need for a negative supply negative temperature. The LM50 has an ideal output voltage range from +100 mV to 1.75 and a temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C over the temperature range V. The LM50 does not require any external calibration or fine-tuning to provide an accuracy of ±3°C at room temperature ± 4°C and over the entire -40°C to +125°C temperature range. Trimming and LM50 calibration at the wafer level guarantees low cost and high accuracy. The LM50's linear output, +500 mV offset, and factory-calibrated simplified circuitry require negative temperature requirements for reading in a single-supply environment. Since the quiescent current of the LM50 is less than 130μA, self-heating is limited to a very low 0.2°C, still air.
