The LM555 is a highly stable device that produces precise time delays or oscillations. Other terminals provide trigger or reset if needed. In surgical time delay mode, time is precisely controlled by an external resistor and capacitor. For operation as an unsteady oscillator, the free-running frequency and duty cycle precisely control two external resistors and a capacitor. The circuit can trigger and reset falling edge waveforms, source or sink up to 200mA of output circuitry or drive TTL circuitry.
