The LM3421/23 are multifunction high voltage N-channel MOSFETs for LED driver controllers. They can be easily configured in buck, boost, buck-boost and SEPIC topologies. This flexibility, along with a 75V input voltage level, makes the LM3421/23 ideal for lighting LEDs in a large number of applications.
The adjustable high-side current sense voltage allows for tight monitoring of LED current and the highest possible efficiency. The LM3421/23 uses predictive off-time (professional) control, which is a combination of peak current mode control and predictive off-timer. This control method simplifies loop compensation design while providing inherent input voltage feedforward compensation.
The LM3421/23 device includes a high voltage start-up regulator that operates over a wide input range of 4.5V to 75V. The internal PWM controller is designed for adjustable switching frequencies up to 2.0 MHz, making for a compact solution. Other features include "zero current" shutdown, analog dimming PWM dimming, overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and thermal shutdown.
The LM3423 also includes an LED output status flag, fault flag, programmable fault timer and a logic input to select the polarity of the dimming output driver.
The LM3421Q1/23Q1 is AEC - Q100 Class 1 qualified and the LM3421Q0/23Q0 is AEC - Q100 Class 0 qualified.
