The LM3405A is a 1A constant current buck LED driver designed to provide a simple, high efficiency solution for driving high power LEDs. A 0.205V reference voltage feedback control minimizes power dissipation, and an external resistor sets the current to drive the LED needs. The switching frequency is internally set to 1.6MHz, allowing the use of small surface mount inductors and capacitors. The LM3405A uses current mode control and internal compensation to provide easy-to-use and predictable, high-performance regulation over a wide range of operating conditions. With a maximum input voltage of 22V, it can drive up to 5 high-brightness series LEDs with a forward current of 1A, and copying, LED forward voltage of about 3.7V. Other features include user-accessible EN/DIM pins with LED with PWM dimming enabled and PWM dimming, thermal shutdown, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and overcurrent protection.
