description
® The LT 1381 is a dual integral charge pump RS232 driver/receiver pair to produce an RS232 voltage class from a single 5V supply. The circuit features a rugged bipolar design that provides operating system fault tolerance and ESD protection unmatched by competing CMOS designs. Using only 0.1μF external capacitors, the circuit consumes only 40mW of power and can operate 120kbaud even high capacitance loads while driving. The new ESD architecture on the chip allows the LT1381 to survive multiple ± 10kV strikes, eliminating the need for expensive TransZorbs RS232 line pins ®. The driver outputs overload protection and can be short-circuited to ground or up to ± 25V without damage. In the event of a power failure, the driver and receiver outputs are in a high-impedance state, allowing row sharing.
