The LTC ® 1649 is a high power, high efficiency switching regulator controller optimized for very low supply voltages. The 2.7V to 5V input regulates the output voltage from 1.26V to 2.5V and delivers up to 20A of load current. A typical 3.3V to 2.5V application functions more than 90% of the efficiency from 1A to 10A loads. LTC1649 uses a standard 5V logic-level N-channel external MOSFET, eliminating the need for expensive P-channel or ultra-low threshold devices.

The LTC1649 of its internal switching architecture is the same as LTC1430 and functions± 1% of the characteristics of line, load and temperature regulation. User-adjustable current limit eliminates the need for external low-value sense resistors. LTC1649 uses a 200kHz switching frequency and voltage mode control to minimize the number and size of external components. Shutdown mode drops to less than 10μA quiescent current.
