The LMH0303 3 Gbps HD/SD SDI Cable Detection Cable Driver is designed for serial digital video applications with SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 344M, SMPTE 259M. LMH0303 drive 75Ω transmission cable (Belden 1694A, i.e. Belden 8281, or equivalent) with data rates up to 2.97 Gbps.
LMH0303 includes intelligent sensing to improve system diagnostics. The cable detection function detects the end of the year to determine if the output BNC cable is properly connected. Loss of Input Signal (LOS) detects the cable driver and enters a valid signal. These sensing functions, which can be used to alert the user of system failures and activate power saving mode, reduce the power consumption of the cable driver to 4 megawatts. These functions are accessed through the SMBus interface.
LMH0303 offers SMPTE 259M and SMPTE 424M/292M with two selectable conversion rates. The output amplitude is adjustable ± 5 mV step size is 10% of SMBus.
LMH0303 is powered from a single 3.3V supply. Power consumption is typically 155 MW to 130 MW in SD mode and HD mode. LMH0303 is in a 16-pin LLP package.
