The LTC ® 1771 is a high efficiency current-mode step-up DC/DC controller that attracts 10μA DC power supply with no-load output current regulation, while maintaining high load efficiency of up to a few amps. LTC1771 drives external P-channel power MOSFETs with current-mode, constant-shutdown time architecture. An external sense resistor is used for the operating current level of the scheme. Current-mode control provides short-circuit protection, excellent transient response, and control start-up behavior. Burst mode operation keeps high efficiency so that the LTC1771 drops to very low currents. Shutdown mode further reduces the supply current to only 2μA. For low-noise applications, Burst Mode operates, which can be conveniently disabled with the MODE pin. The wide input supply voltage range of 2.8V to 18V (20V max) is important for a wide range of low dropout 100% duty cycle operation that extends battery life LTC1771 ideal for battery-powered applications. Both are available in 8-pin MSOP and SO packages, providing a minimal area solution for LTC1771 availability.
