The LTC ® 1778 is a synchronous buck switching regulator controller optimized for CPU power. The controller uses a valley current control architecture to provide excellent transient response without the need for a very low duty cycle with sense resistance. The operating frequency is selected by an external resistor and is inVchanges to compensate.

Continuous mode operation provides efficient operation at light loads. The Forced Continuous Control pin reduces noise and RF interference and assists in disabling continuous operation when the main output load is light and the secondary windings are regulated.

The fault protection feature is limited by an internal foldback current, an output overvoltage comparator, and an optional short-circuit shutdown timer. The soft-start, power-sequencing function is performed by using an external timing capacitor. is the current limit level of a user-programmable voltage regulator. A wide supply range is available from 4V to 36V input, and operation can be from 0.8V to（0.9）Vin the output.
