MAX31826 digital thermometers provide 12-bit temperature measurements over 1-WireM bus for communication, and only one data line needs to be defined for communication (and ground) with the central microcontroller. It has an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C and is accurate to ±0.5°C and above -10°C to +85°C. In addition, the device can derive power directly from the data cable ("parasitic power supply"), eliminating the need for an external power supply.

Each device has a unique 64-bit serial code, which allows multiple devices to function on the same 1-Wire bus. Therefore, it is simply a microcontroller (master) that controls many devices distributed over a large area. The unit includes a 128-byte EEPROM for storing system data (1KB). Locking EEPROM permanently prevents any further data writes. Address entry for four locations, simplifying mapping to a single device to a specific location.
