ADE7816 six-current-channel, one-voltage channel energy metering IC

The ADE7816 is a high precision, multichannel metrology device that measures one voltage channel and up to six current channels. It measures line voltages and currents and calculates active and reactive power, as well as instantaneous voltage and current rms. The device contains seven sigma-delta ADCs and a high-precision energy metering core. Six current input channels allow simultaneous measurement of multiple loads. Both the voltage channel and the six current channels integrate a complete signal path, allowing a variety of measurements to be performed. Each input channel supports flexible gain stages and is suitable for use with current transformers (CTs). Six on-chip digital integrators facilitate the use of Rogowski coil sensors.

     

The ADE7816 is available via SPI or I2The C interface accesses the on-chip metering registers. A dedicated high-speed data acquisition (HSDC) port can be used with I2C is used in conjunction to access real-time ADC output information. Through two external interrupt pinsIRQ0andIRQ1Comprehensive power quality information such as overcurrent, overvoltage, peak and dip detection can be obtained.

          

The ADE7816 energy metering IC operates from a 3.3 V supply, is available in a 40-lead LFCSP package, is Pb-free, and RoHS compliant.
