ADP2126/ The ADP2127 is a high frequency,Step-down DC-DC converter, optimized for portable applications where board area and battery life are limited. The fixed 6 MHz operating frequency allows the use of tiny ceramic inductors and capacitors, and the regulator utilizes spread spectrum modulation to reduce EMI. In addition, synchronous rectification improves efficiency and reduces external components.

At high load currents, the ADP2126/ADP2127 use regulated pulse-width modulation (PWM) mode to maintain a constant frequency with excellent stability and transient response. Operation at light loads is determined by the state of the MODE pin. In forced PWM mode, the converter continues to operate in PWM mode at light load. Under light load conditions in automatic mode, the ADP2126/ADP2127 automatically enter power-saving mode and use pulse frequency modulation (PFM) to reduce the effective switching frequency to maximize battery life in portable applications.

The ADP2126/ADP2127 enable an external clock signal from 6 MHz to 27 MHz to the EXTCLK pin. Some models can be enabled with a logic high. When the external clock is not switched and is in a logic low state, the ADP2126/ADP2127 stop regulation and shut down, drawing less than 0.3 μA (typical) from the input source.

The ADP2126/ADP2127 have an input voltage range of 2.1 V to 5.5 V, allowing the use of single Li+/Li polymer batteries, triple alkaline batteries, NiMH batteries, and other standard power supplies. The ADP2126/ADP2127 use an internal compensation mechanism to minimize external component count and current output up to 500 mA. Other important features such as cycle-by-cycle peak current limit, soft-start, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output-to-ground short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown protect internal and external circuit components.
