A8501is a multiplex WLED/RGB designed for backlit mid-size displaysdrive。 The A8501 includes a boost converter and four incoming current sources. Operates from a single supply of 8 to 21 V and withstands voltages up to 40 V.

The boost converter is a constant frequency current mode converter. The operating frequency can be set to 2 MHz to avoid interference in the AM band. The integrated boost DMOS switch is rated at 40 V at 3.6 A.

PWM dimming control supports LED current control at a 1000:1 ratio. Other 4:1 light and dark control sections are obtained by using DIM pins.

The A8501 provides output terminal short-circuit protection through an integrated output shutdown switch. An optional external thermistor can be used to limit LED current based on panel temperature.

The unit is available in a surface-mount, 28-pin TSSOP package (suffix LP) with exposed thermal pads for enhanced heat dissipation. The packaging is lead-free and 100% matte tin plating.
