A8516is a multi-output WLED/RGB for backlit LCD displays and TVsdrive。 It combines a boost controller to drive external MOSFETs and six internal current-sinking devices. The boost converter operates in constant frequency (programmable) current mode.

The LED sink current can be set through an external R_ISET resistor (see chart below). Multiple LED sinks can be combined to achieve higher currents per LED string.

The A8516 operates from a single supply and has a voltage range of 8 to 24 V. It provides protection against overvoltage, open LED string, short circuit, and overtemperature. Two-stage wave-by-wave current limit provides soft-start and overload protection.

The device is available in a 24-pin SOICW package (LB) with built-in fusion pins for enhanced heat dissipation and a 24-pin TSSOP package with external thermal pads for enhanced heat dissipation. All packages are lead (Pb) free with 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
