    The AD7656A-1, a pin- and software-compatible version of the AD7656A that reduces decoupling requirements, contains six 16-bit, fast, low power successive approximation ADCs integrated into a single package using an iCMOS process (industrial CMOS®) design. iCMOS is a process that combines high-voltage silicon with submicron CMOS and complementary bipolar technologies. With this process, it is possible to develop high-performance analog ICs that operate at 33V high voltages with a volumetric performance ratio that cannot be achieved with conventional high-voltage devices. Unlike analog ICs that use traditional CMOS processes, iCMOS components can input bipolar signals while improving performance, significantly reducing power consumption, and reducing package size.

    AD7656A-1Throughput rates up to 250 kSPS and a built-in wide bandwidth (4.5 MHz) track-and-hold amplifier can handle input frequencies up to 4.5 MHz.

    The conversion process and data acquisition are controlled using CONVST x signals and an internal oscillator. Three CONVST x pins (CONVST A, CONVST B, and CONVST C) allow three pairs of ADCs to be sampled simultaneously independently. The AD7656A-1 has both a high speed parallel interface and a high speed serial interface, allowing the device to interface with a microprocessor or digital signal processor (DSP). In serial interface mode, the AD7656A-1 allows multiple ADCs to be daisy-chained to a single serial interface. The AD7656A-1 is available in ? VREF and? ? True bipolar input signals are supported within the VREF range. The AD7656A-1 also contains an on-chip 2.5 V reference.
