The DAC-8229 is a dual-channel 8-bit voltage output multiplication CMOS D/A converter. The reference input accepts ± 2.5 V signal and uses an internal amplifier to invert the signal and pass it to the output. VREF is also acceptable - 10 V, corresponding to a +10 V output (the maximum positive input signal supported is +2.5 V).
The DAC-8229 is designed for dual power supply; However, when the VSS, AGND A, and AGND B are connected to the ground pin, a single supply is also supported. At this point, it operates similarly to the DAC-8228 (its pinout allows it to support both AD/PM-7528 and AD/PM-7628 sockets).
An internal regulator provides TTL logic compatibility and fast microprocessor interface timing performance across the VDD range. In addition, the individual DAC input latches support addressing for easy interfacing with the microprocessor.
The DAC-8229 consumes less than 109 mW and is available in a 20-pin 0.3" DIP package or a 20-pin SO surface-mount package to save space. Its small size, low power consumption, and low cost per channel make it ideal for applications with multiple D/A converters without sacrificing board space. The reduced number of components also helps to improve system reliability.
The DAC-8229 has excellent DAC-to-DAC matching and temperature tracking capabilities by utilizing PMI's advanced oxide-isolated, silicon-gate CMOS process, and a highly stable PMI thin-film R-2R resistive trapezoidal network.
The DAC-8229 is available in a CERDIP or epoxy package with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C for extended industrial temperatures.
