DAC8408 is a single-chip four-way 8-bit multiplier digital-to-analog CMOS converter. Each DAC has its own reference input, feedback resistor, and an on-chip data latch with read/write capabilities. The readback function acts as the memory of the system that requires self-test.
Data is loaded into any of the four DAC data latches using a common 8-bit input TTL/CMOS compatible input port. Control lines DS1, DS2, and A/B determine which DAC accepts the data. The data loading structure is similar to the write cycle of RAM. The control line R/W allows data to be read back to the same data bus. DAC8408 compatible with most 8-bit microprocessor buses, including the 6800, 8080, 8085, and Z80. DAC8408 operates from a single +5 V supply and consumes less than 20 mW. DAC8408 is based on an advanced oxide-isolated, silicon-gate CMOS process made with PMI's highly stable thin-film resistors. The PMI improved anti-latch design eliminates the need for external protection Schottky diodes.
