The AD7124-4 is a low power, low noise, complete set for high precision measurement applicationsAnalog front end。 The device contains a low noise 24-bit sigma-delta typeAnalog-to-digital converters(ADC), which can be configured to provide four differential inputs or seven single-ended or pseudo-differential inputs. The on-chip low gain stage ensures that small signals can be input directly into the ADC.

One of the key advantages of the AD7124-4 is the flexibility of the user to use three integrated power modes. Power consumption, output data rate range, and rms noise can be customized by selecting power modes. Multiple filter options are also available to ensure maximum user flexibility.

The AD7124-4 achieves simultaneous rejection of 50 Hz and 60 Hz at an output data rate of 25 SPS (single-cycle settling), and over 80 dB rejection at lower output data rates.

The AD7124-4 offers the highest level of signal chain integration. The device contains a precision low noise, low drift internal bandgap reference, or an internally buffered external differential reference. Other key integrated features include a programmable low drift excitation current source, fusing current, and a bias voltage generator that allows the common-mode voltage of a channel to be set to AVDD/2. The low-side power switch allows the user to turn off the bridge sensor between conversions, guaranteeing the system to an absolute minimum power dissipation. The device also allows the user to operate with an internal clock or an external clock.

The built-in channel sequencer enables multiple channels simultaneously, and the AD7124-4 performs conversions sequentially on each enabled channel, simplifying communication with the device. Up to 16 channels can be enabled at any time with analog inputs or diagnostic functions such as power supply check or reference check. This unique feature allows diagnostic functions to be performed interchangeably.

The AD7124-4 also supports per-channel configurations. The device supports eight configurations or settings. Each configuration includes gain, filter type, output data rate, buffer, and reference. Users can assign any setting on each channel.

The AD7124-4 also integrates rich diagnostic functions as part of a comprehensive feature set. These diagnostic features include cyclic redundancy check (CRC), signal chain check, and serial interface check to provide a more robust solution. These diagnostic functions reduce the number of external components required to perform diagnostic functions, reducing board space requirements, reducing design time, and saving cost. According to IEC 61508, the Failure Mode Effects and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) Safety Failure Failure Ratio (SFF) is greater than 90% for typical applications.

The device operates from a single analog supply of 2.7 V to 3.6 V or dual 1.8 V supplies. The digital supply range is 1.65 V to 3.6 V. The device is specified over the −40°C to +105°C temperature range. The AD7124-4 is available in a 32-lead LFCSP package or a 24-lead TSSOP package.

Note that throughout the data sheet, multifunction pins such as DOUT/RDY are represented by the entire pin name or by a single function of the pin; For example, RDY means that it is only relevant for this function.
