The 71M6103 isolated sensor IC eliminates the high cost of current transformers in meter design

The 71M6103/71M6113/71M6201/71M6203/71M6601/71M6603 (71M6xxx) isolation sensor ICs enable the use of Teridian's fourth-generation multiphase metering 71M654x system-on-chip (SoC) without the need for expensive and nonlinear sensors such as resistive shunt nonisolating sensor isolation transformers or CTS. Isolation provides a low-cost pulse transformer that forms a 71M654x and isolated sensor IC between a bidirectional digital communication link.

The 71M6xxx isolation sensor IC contains a 22-bit Δ-ΣADC, a differential input amplifier, a high-precision voltage reference, a temperature sensor, and a supply voltage generator 71M654x to provide power pulse power-up.

In combination with the in-use 71M654x metering SoC, the isolated sensor IC provides unprecedented BOM cost reduction, immunity to magnetic interference, and enhanced reliability for single- and multi-phase applications.
