The Allegro® A1205 Hall-effect bipolar switch is the next generation replacement and continuation of the popular Allegro A3134 bipolar switch. The A1205 has the same specifications as the A1201 but is recommended for applications that require pulsed VCC to save power. For standard applications, if VCC is constant, refer to the A1201 to A1204 devices.
The A120x series is manufactured using BiCMOS technology and contains continuous-operating devices that feature fast power-up and low-noise operation. Device programming occurs after the package to eliminate bias caused by package stresses and ensure higher switch point accuracy. The unique Hall element geometry and low offset amplifier help minimize noise and reduce residual offset voltages typically caused by device overmolding, temperature spikes, and thermal stress.
The A120x Hall-effect bipolar switch includes the following components on a single silicon wafer: a voltage regulator, a Hall voltage generator, a small signal amplifier, a Schmidt trigger, and an NMOS output transistor. The integrated voltage regulator allows operation between 3.8 and 24 volts. The large-scale on-board protection circuitry enables an absolute maximum voltage rating of ± 30 volts, providing super protection for automotive and electric motor rectification applications without the need for external components.
