These Hall-effect latches are extremely stable and voltage-resistant sensor ICs at all temperatures, especially for applications up to 150°C. The new Schmidt trigger circuitry achieves good performance at high temperatures by compensating for temperature changes in the Hall effect, maintaining symmetry between the operating and release points. In addition, the magnetic switch points provided by internal compensation are more sensitive to temperature, which can counteract the degradation of the magnetic field caused by temperature. The symmetry feature makes the device more suitable for pulse counting applications, where the duty cycle is a very important parameter. The three basic devices (A1225, A1227, and A1229) are basically identical except for the magnetic switch points.
Each device houses the following components on a single silicon: a voltage regulator, Hall generator, temperature compensation circuitry, signal amplifier, Schmidt flip-flops, and a buffered open-drain output that can draw up to 25 mA. The on-board regulator allows operation with a supply voltage of 3.8 to 24 V.
The first character of the model suffix specifies the operating temperature range of the device. The suffix L refers to –40°C to 150°C. Both packages provide magnetically optimized packages for most applications. The suffix LT refers to the miniature SOT89/ TO-243AA transistor package for surface mount applications, and the suffix UA is a three-pin subminiature SIP. Both packages are lead-free and feature 100% matte tin-plated pin frames.
