The A1244 is a two-wire Hall-effect latch. These devices are manufactured using Allegro's® advanced BiCMOS wafer fabrication process using its proprietary high-frequency four-phase chopper stabilization technology. This technology achieves magnetic stability relative to all operating temperatures, eliminating the inherent offset of single-Hall device devices for harsh application environments.
Because two-wire latches use one less wire than traditional open-collector output switches, two-wire latches are particularly useful for cost-sensitive applications. Moreover, the system designer always has access to diagnostic information because the output current must always be within two narrow ranges. Any current level outside of these two ranges indicates a fault.
Hall-effect latches will be in a high output current state when a strong Antarctic magnetic field occurs and will remain in this state until a strong Arctic magnetic field appears.
The device is available in two package types. The LH is a SOT-23W miniature low-profile package for surface mount applications. UA is a three-pin, ultra-miniature, single-in-line package (SIP) for via mounting. Both packages are lead-free and feature 100% matte tin-plated pinframes.
