New applications for linear output Hall-effect sensors, such as displacement and angular position, require higher accuracy and smaller package sizes. The Allegro A1388 and A1389 linear Hall-effect sensor ICs are designed to meet these requirements. Both surface-mount and through-hole plug-in packages feature these thermally stable devices.
The accuracy of each device can be improved through end-of-line optimization. Each device is equipped with a non-volatile memory that optimizes the device sensitivity and quiescent voltage output (QVO: output without a magnetic field) for a given application or circuit. The A1388 and A1389 also achieve optimal performance over the entire operating temperature range by programming the temperature coefficients in Allegro end-of-line testing for high sensitivity and QVO.
These proportional Hall-effect sensor ICs provide a voltage output proportional to the applied magnetic field. The quiescent voltage output can be adjusted to about 50% of the supply voltage.
With their unique features, these linear devices are ideal for automotive and industrial applications that require high accuracy and can operate in temperatures ranging from –40°C to 150°C.
Each BiCMOS monolithic circuit integrates Hall element temperature supplement circuitry that reduces Hall element intrinsic sensitivity drift, a small-signal high-gain amplifier, a clamping low-impedance output stage, and proprietary dynamic offset cancellation technology.
The A1388 and A1389 sensor ICs are available in two packages. LH is a SOT-23W miniature low-profile package for surface mount. UA is a three-pin ultra-miniature single-in-line package (SIP) for through-hole insertion. Both packages are lead-free (Pb) packages with 100% matte tin plated pin frames.
