The A3946 is designed for applications requiring higher power unidirectional DC engines, three-phase brushless DC motors, or other inductive loads. The A3946 offers twoHigh current driversOutput capable of driving N-channel MOSFETs over a wide range of powers. The high-side gate driver turns on the N-channel MOSFETs that control current to the load, while the low-side gate drivers turn on the N-channel MOSFETs that act as synchronous rectifiers.
The bootstrap capacitor provides the battery supply voltage described above required for N-channel MOSFETs. The high-end internal charge pump allows half-bridge DC (100% duty cycle) operation.
The A3946 is available in two packages: a 16-pin SOIC with two internally configured fuses for optimized power dissipation, part number suffix: LB) and a 16-pin TSSOP with exposed heatsink, suffix: LP. These packages are lead (suffix –T) with 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
