• Product Introduction

The A4406 is an automotive power management IC that uses a 5.45 V high-frequency constant on-time preconditioner to power an internal 5 V linear regulator and a 3.3 V linear DMOS driver. The A4406 is designed to power CAN and microprocessor power in high-temperature environments, making it ideal for under-the-hood applications. Efficient operation can be achieved by using a step-down preconditioner to effectively reduce the input voltage before powering the linear regulator; This reduces power loss and increases the total efficiency of the regulator.

The switching regulator is designed to operate at a nominal switching frequency of 2.2 MHz. The high switching frequency enables customers to choose between low-value inductors and ceramic capacitors while avoiding electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the AM frequency band.

Protection features include undervoltage lockout and overheat shutdown. The V5P output is protected from battery short circuits. In the event of a load short, all regulators will activate overcurrent protection. The A4406 also features a power-on reset with adjustable delay for microprocessor output.

The A4406 is available in a low-profile (max: 1.2 mm) 20-pin TSSOP package with exposed insulation panel (suffix: LP). The package is lead-free and features a 100% matte tin-plated pinframe.
