The A4407 is a carPower management ICsIt powers a 5 V linear regulator, a 5 V track/protection linear regulator, a 3.3 V linear field effect transistor (FET) controller/driver, and a 1.2 V/1.5 V/1.8 V linear field effect transistor (FET) controller/driver using a 2.2 MHz constant on-time (COT) buck preregulator. The A4407 has a pin that sets the main reference of the 5 V tracking regulator to a 3.3 V or 5 V output. The buck on-time is internally adjusted by VIN's function to maintain a 2.2 MHz switching frequency. Efficient operation can be achieved by using a buck preregulator to reduce the input voltage before powering the linear regulator. Designed to power CAN and microprocessor power in high-temperature environments, the A4407 is ideal for under-the-hood applications.
The switching regulator is designed to operate at a nominal switching frequency of 2.2 MHz. The high switching frequency enables customers to select low-value inductors and ceramic capacitors while avoiding electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the AM band. Protection features include undervoltage lockout, pulse-by-pulse current limit, LX short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown. In the event of a load short circuit, all linear regulators initiate foldback overcurrent protection. In addition, the V5P output is protected from short battery circuits. The A4407 has a logic level and high voltage (current limit, limit) allowed inputs. The A4407 also features a power-on reset (NPOR) output with adjustable delay for microprocessor control.
The A4407 is available in a small (1.1 mm) 24-pin TSSOP package with an exposed heatsink mounted for enhanced thermal functionality (suffix LP). The package is lead (Pb) free and features 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
