The A4407 is an automotive power management IC that uses a 2.2 MHz constant on-time (COT) step-down preconditioner to power a 5 V linear regulator, a 5 V tracking/protective linear regulator, a 3.3 V linear field effect transistor (FET) controller/driver, and a 1.2 V/1.5 V and 1.8 V linear field effect transistor (FET) controller/driver. The A4407 has a pin to set the main reference of the 5 V tracking regulator to a 3.3 V or 5 V output. The buck on-time is internally regulated by the function of the VIN to maintain a 2.2 MHz switching frequency. Efficient operation is achieved by reducing the input voltage using a step-down preconditioner before powering the linear regulator. The A4407 is designed to power CAN and microprocessors in high-temperature environments, making it ideal for under-the-hood applications.

The switching regulator is designed to operate at a nominal switching frequency of 2.2 MHz. The high switching frequency enables customers to choose between low-value inductors and ceramic capacitors while avoiding electromagnetic interference (EMI) in the AM frequency band. Protection features include undervoltage lockout, pulse-by-pulse current limiting, LX short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown. In the event of a load short, all linear regulators will activate the foldback overcurrent protection. In addition, the V5P output is protected from battery short circuits. The A4407 has logic level and high voltage (current limiting) allowed inputs. The A4407 also features a power-on reset (NPOR) output with adjustable delay for microprocessor control.

The A4407 is available in a small (1.1 mm) 24-pin TSSOP package with an exposed heatsink mounted for improved thermal functionality (suffix LP). The package is lead-free and features a 100% matte tin-plated pinframe.
