The A4937 is a three-phase controller designed for automotive applications that can be used with N-channel external power MOSFETs.
Unique charge pump regulator provides complete (>10 V)Gate driversto handle battery voltages as low as 7 V and allow the A4937 to operate when the gate driver voltage drops to 5.5 V.
The bootstrap capacitor is used to provide the above battery supply voltage required for the N-channel MOSFET.
The device provides full control of all six power MOSFETs in a three-phase bridge through an SPI-compatible serial interface, allowing the motor to be driven by blocking or overlapping commutation. The power output can be adjusted by one or two PWM inputs. Integrated crossover control and programmable inductive time save power MOSFETs from breakdown.
Integrated diagnostics indicate undervoltage, overtemperature, and power bridging faults, and can be configured to protect the power MOSFETs under most short-circuit conditions. Detailed diagnostics are available in the form of serial data words.
The A4937 is available in a 28-pin TSSOP power package with an exposed heatsink for enhanced thermal dissipation (package type LP). Lead-free package with 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
