The A6264 is a linear, programmable current regulator that delivers 100 mA each to the 4 outputs to drive a high-brightness LED array. For parking and taillight applications, the LED current can be switched between high and low current. The two-stage LED current (accurate to 5%) for each output is set by 2 reference resistors. No ballast resistor is used, and the current match per string is better than 10%. The use of constant current drive LEDs ensures safe operation and provides the maximum possible illumination output.
For automotive applications, peak performance is achieved when 4 strings are driven with 1 to 3 LEDs in each string, each with a total current of up to 100 mA. The output can be paralleled or idle as needed.
Short circuit detection is provided to protect the LEDs and the A6264 when any LED output pin is shorted to ground. An open LED in any string can disable all outputs, but the function can be overridden. The fault flag shows a short-circuit LED output pin or an open-circuit LED.
The product includes a temperature monitor to reduce the LED drive current if the chip temperature exceeds the thermal threshold.
The devices are available in 10-pin MSOP (LY) and 16-pin TSSOP (LP) packages, both of which feature exposed heat sinks for enhanced heat dissipation. The packages are lead-free and the pin frames are 100% matte tin plated.
