The A6265 is a DC-to-DC converter controller that provides a programmable constant current output to drive high-power LEDs connected in series. The LEDs that drive in series ensure the same current and uniform brightness. For automotive applications, performance is optimized by driving 2 to 10 LEDs using currents up to 1 A.
The A6265 uses an external logic-level MOSFET that minimizes the need for external components, providing an extremely cost-effective solution. The maximum LED current can be set with a single external induction resistor and can be modified using a current reference input. Direct PWM control can be achieved by enabling input, and it also has a shutdown mode.
The DC-to-DC converter can be configured as a ground-referenced boost converter, or a power-powered reference boost converter to provide buck-boost capability. Using a buck-boost topology ensures that the LEDs have no leakage path when shutting down and no inrush current when starting up.
Integrated diagnostics and dual fault outputs indicate in the event of undervoltage, chip overheating, open output, LED short, and LED undercurrent, and can be configured to provide power short-circuit and ground short-circuit protection for LED connections. With the unique feature of detecting one or more shorted LEDs.
The device is available in a 16-pin TSSOP package (suffix LP) with an exposed heat sink mounted. It is packaged as a lead-free (Pb) product with a 100% matte tin plated pin frame.
