The A8302 is a dual-channel, low-noise modular conversion regulator (LNBR). The A8302 includes a monolithic linear and switching voltage regulator designed to provide power and interface signals to the LNB buck converter over a coaxial cable within the satellite TV receiver system. The A8302 requires very few external components, and the device integrates a boost switch and compensation circuitry. The boost converter switching frequency and user-controlled current limit minimize the size of the passive filter element. The user-controlled current limit and two switching frequency settings allow for the optimization of the size of the passive filter element. The sleep pin can be used to maximize power savings and quickly shut down the device when necessary, eliminating the need for I2C™ control.
The A8302 integrates tone detection and the internal driver allows for comprehensive bidirectional DiSEqC™ communication. For DiSEqC™ communication, the IC provides a gate with a built-in 22-kHz tone with the TONECTRLx pin or accepts a 22-kHz tone via the TONECTRLx pin.
The A8302 provides an early power failure (EPF) warning to help initiate the shutdown procedure. The A8302 maximum output reverse current can be set using SINK_DIS bits.
The device has a complete set of fault registers that meet all common standards, including: overcurrent, overtemperature shutdown, undervoltage, and poor power supply.
The device uses a two-wire, bidirectional serial interface, is compatible with the I2C™ standard, and operates at up to 400 kHz. The A8302 is available in a 5 mm×5 mm, 32-contact, lead-free (Pb) QFN package (suffix ET) with a 100% matte tin plated pin frame.
