Designed for analog and digital satellite receivers, single-channel low-noise downconverter regulators (LNBRs) are monolithically switched linear regulators designed to deliver power and interface signals to LNB downconverters over coaxial cables. The A8303 and A8303-1 have integrated boost switches and compensation circuitry internally and require only a few external components. Choose a high switching frequency to minimize the size of the passive filter element and further reduce costs. High-level component integration ensures ultra-low noise and ripple patterns.
In response to the Japanese market, the A8303-1 includes an 11.667 V setup.
The A8303 and A8303-1 feature an efficient design concept and utilize Allegro's advanced BCD process. Optimized for integrated boost switches to minimize switching and static losses. To further improve efficiency, the pressure drop in the tracking regulator has been minimized.
To facilitate DiSEqC™ communication, a tone control pin is also provided for internal generation of a 22™ kHz tone switch gable. The device provides a comprehensive set of fault registers that meet all common standards, including: overcurrent, overtemperature shutdown, undervoltage, and poor power supply.
Additionally, the design approach and construction ensure the highest level of stability against transients and component failures. The device uses a 2-wire bidirectional serial interface, is compatible with the I2C™ standard, and can operate at frequencies up to 400 kHz.
The A8303 and A8303-1 are available in a lead-free (Pb) package.
