A8510is a multi-output white LED for LCD backlightingdrive。 It integrates a current-mode boost converter with an internal power switch and eight current-sinking devices. The boost converter can drive up to 96 LEDs for a total of 40 mA per string of 12 LEDs. LED sinks can be paralleled to achieve higher LED currents up to 320 mA. The A8510 operates from a single supply of 5 to 40 V.
In the event of a fault, the A8510 can drive an external P-FET to disconnect the input power to the system. Protection provided by the A8510 includes output short-circuit and overvoltage protection, open- or short-circuit protection of diodes, open- or short-circuit protection of LED pins, and overtemperature protection. Two-stage wave-by-wave current limit provides soft-start and protection against high current overload in the internal current switch.
The A8510 synchronizes the PWM switching frequency from 600 kHz to 2.25 MHz through the sync pin.
The unit is available in a 26-contact, 4 mm× 4 mm, 0.75 mm nominal total height QFN package with exposed heat sink for enhanced heat dissipation. The package is lead-free and features 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
