A8511is a multi-output WLED/RGB designed for mid-size display backlightingdrive。 It is a fully integrated high-brightness (HB) LED driver solution that meets backlight design standards without the need for an external power supply. The A8511 integrates FETs for boost converters and four 150 mA current converters to provide a complete comprehensive solution at the HB LED current level. LED channels can be combined with each other to support up to 600mA current sink capability. The device operates from a single supply of 6.8 to 21 V and can withstand voltages up to 40 V. The boost converter is a constant-frequency, current-type converter.

The operating frequency can be set to 2 MHz to avoid interference in the AM band. The integrated boost DMOS switch is rated at 40 V at 3.6 A. PWM dimming control enables LED current control with ratios up to 1000:1. Additional 4:1 light and dark control is available by using the DIM pin.

The A8511 provides output connector short-circuit protection through an integrated output disconnect switch. An optional external thermistor can be used to limit LED current based on panel temperature.

The device is available in a surface-mount, 28-pin TSSOP package (suffix LP) with an exposed heatsink plate for enhanced cooling. The package is lead (Pb) free and features 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
