• Product Introduction

The A8513 is a single-output white LED (WLED) driver for LCD backlighting. It integrates a current-mode boost converter with an internal power switch and a current draw-in device. The A8513 can be operated from a single 4.5 to 40 volt power supply to meet start/shutdown, cold start, and load dump requirements. The 2 MHz boost converter switching frequency allows the A8513 to operate above the AM radio band.

If desired, fault markers can be used as part of the circuit to drive the input power to the external P-FET disconnect system in the event of a fault. The A8513 offers a variety of protections, including output short-circuit and overvoltage, open-circuit or short-circuit diodes, open-circuit or short-circuit LED pins, short-circuit boost switches or inductors, short-circuit ISET resistors, and IC over-temperature protection. The two-stage wave-by-wave current limiting feature provides soft start and protection against high current overloads in the internal current switch.

The A8513 is available in a 10-pin MSOP package (suffix LY) and a 16-pin TSSOP package (suffix LP). Both packages have exposed pads for improved heat dissipation and are lead-free, with 100% matte tin plating on the pin frame.
