The A8582 is an adjustable frequency, high-output current PWM regulator that integrates a low-resistance, high-end, N-channel MOSFET. The A8582 integrates current-mode control to provide simple compensation, excellent loop stability, and fast transient response. The A8582 utilizes external compensation to be compatible with a wide range of power components to optimize transient response without compromising stability.

The A8582 is adjustable from 4.7 to 36 V input voltages, providing output voltages as low as 0.8 V and load currents of at least 2.0 A. The A8582 features an externally adjustable switching frequency, an externally set soft-start time to minimize inrush current, an EN/SYNC input that enables VOUT and/or synchronization of PWM switching frequencies, and a power-healthy (POK) output that indicates VOUT within the regulation range. The A8582 only turns on the low-end FET to charge the boost capacitor when needed, rather than turning it on every PWM cycle. This results in improved light-load efficiency and a no-load current as low as 4 mA at 2 MHz. The A8582 control circuit operates below 3 μA in sleep mode.

Protection features include VIN Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO), Pulse-by-Pulse Overcurrent Protection (OCP), Hiccup Mode Short Circuit Protection (HIC), Overvoltage Protection (OVP), and Overtemperature Shutdown (TSD). In addition, the A8582 offers one-of-a-kind secondary tube (D1) missing protection, open and adjacent pin short-circuit protection, and ground short-circuit protection for each pin to meet the most demanding applications.

The A8582 is available in a 16-pin TSSOP package with an exposed heatsink for enhanced thermal functionality. It is packaged as a lead-free product and features a 100% matte tin plated pin frame.
